| Frequently Asked
Questions
Q1. Can I make a claim for compensation?
A. If you have suffered an injury over the course of the last three years
which was not your fault then you may be entitled to claim compensation
for your injuries. The situation is different if you sustain the injury
whilst a child. You then have a period of three years from reaching 18
to make that claim.
Q2. How much am I entitled to?
A. This depends on a variety of factors which include the nature and
extent of the injury you sustained, any loss of wages, loss of other uninsured
items e.g. clothing. Your solicitor is able to assess fully your losses.
Q3. What is the cost of making a claim?
A. We operate a “no win no fee” service. This means that
if you are unsuccessful we will not charge you for any legal services
or outlays provided.
Q4. How long does it take to make a compensation claim?
A. If the insurance company acting for the person at fault accepts responsibility
at an early stage (dependent on your injuries), settlement should be achieved
within twelve months. On occasions it can take longer if liability is
not accepted by the insurance company. On those occasions a case may have
to go into court. Courts now have timetables but you could anticipate
that a case should be dealt with within twenty four months.
Q5. Why choose a solicitor to deal directly with me?
A. As solicitors we do not take a percentage of your compensation. We
are also able to advise you about any legal aspects to a case including
the amount of compensation you would be entitled to.
